Mental Health Services
I am an active and engaged therapist. I will not simply nod and ask you, “How do you feel about that?”. I try to serve as an objective mirror for my clients, giving them feedback on what I perceive. This is done tentatively and respectfully but with as much confrontation as seems appropriate.
It’s not unusual for a client to have a general goal and want help articulating what it means for them. In our first session I ask, “How can I help you?”. I listen carefully, ask questions and repeat the goal(s) expressed to make sure we have a clear understanding. If I believe that I won’t be able to help you reach your goals, I will seek to find a referral for you.
My work is outcome oriented and I try to achieve goals quickly, but I also understand that some people enlarge their goals as they work or have issues that require more time.
